Tasting notes
This is showing clear evolution, with soft brambled berry fruits, soy and tobacco leaf character, and soft campfire smoke. Ready to drink. A challenging vintage in Tuscany, with a cold and wet Spring, and a cool Summer, although Testamatta's elevation and aeration helped avoid the worst of the issues. I have enjoyed this vintage in the past, and it still has charm, but I suggest drinking up over the next five years if you have bottles. Consultant Alberto Antonini.

The 2002 Testamatta, the top of the line wine with a big, warm nose of tar and licorice, is very solid and sustained, backward in its tannins and texture, chewy and dense on the finish, and in need of some bottle time. Drink: 2007-2016. Importer: unknown
About the producer

Based just outside Florence, Bibi Graetz is something of a maverick in the Tuscan wine scene. Working with old vineyards of indigenous grapes around Chianti, he produces intense wines classified as IGT Toscana; not fitting neatly in either the Super Tuscan or Chianti camp.
