Score 88/100 · Drink 2016-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, May 2016

Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 2007 Château Dauzac, a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot, has a fresher nose than either the 2005 or 2006, which comes as some surprise. You might think it is a Saint Emilion, so expressive is that Merlot, which imparts hints of coffee with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and acidity, fresh and vibrant with that chocolate note coming back on the finish. This was a success for the vintage - one of those wines that serve restaurants so well. Tasted June 2015.

Dusty cassis and quite leafy on the nose. Similar on the palate, with chocolate-smooth tannins. Complete and satisfying in the 2007 idiom. (JH)

Sweet and rather smoky on the nose. Someone has taken a lot of trouble to extract the fruit carefully here and then there are some quite soft tannins and the acidity is (almost) disguised. A good effort for this property. (JR)

Particularly concentrated dark crimson. Very concentrated, slightly awkward and angular on the nose. Toasty spice and tea leaf aromas – some real attempt at building density, but this has also concentrated the green aspects although there is some juiciness here too. (JR)
