Tasting notes
The 1975 Sandeman Vintage Porto has a simple but nicely defined bouquet with scents of balsam and peppermint, hints of fennel in the background. However, it is missing what you might call thrust. The palate has a pleasing viscous texture. It is well-balanced with touches of clove and licorice, although it does not have the persistency of the 1977 on the finish that tapers away dramatically. Drink now.

Made just after the revolution. First bottle TCA. Second bottle showed less TCA influence and was rather fruity and exciting. Pale rose red and with a trace of vegetal influence. This was a very hot year. I wonder whether the vines shut down and failed to ripen fully physiologically? Not really complete but a fair shot. Very hot finish. (JR)
