Tasting notes
The ravishingly complex 1998 Barbaresco Valeirani possesses a distinctive bouquet of licorice, root beer, earth, cherry liqueur, rose petals, and truffles. Drink this complex, dense, opulently-textured, hedonistic offering over the next decade. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. Saturated deep red. Superripe aromas of black cherry, plum, dried flowers and marzipan, plus hints of spices and molasses. Extraordinarily tactile and rich; conveys an almost salty impression of extract. Mouthfilling and very deep. Has the material to buffer its chewy, big tannins. Real palate-staining persistence.
