Tasting notes
Honeyed, complex, orange peel, lemon rind, quite dry and developed with fruit that has turned too bruised on the finish. A few years too old. (RH)

The 2009 Cervaro della Sala is opulent yet remarkably fresh, showing a green-tinged golden-yellow color brought about by maturity. Flowery underbrush, brioche, baked pears, nutmeg and hints of almond paste emerge from its richly enticing bouquet. It's silky and enveloping with stunning acidity that adds an unexpected freshness as masses of ripe orchard fruits are complicated by a saline tinge. It finishes with medium length, clean, yet still quite potent with a hint of hazelnut that slowly fades.
The 2009 Cervaro della Sala is absolutely beautiful in this vintage. Layers of ripe fruit blossom from the glass in this expressive, generous Cervaro. The oak is very nicely integrated, and there is just enough minerality to balance some of the wine’s slightly riper qualities. This is a fabulous Cervaro loaded with personality and sheer class. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
