Good full red. Captivating aromas of plum, red cherry, rose petal, spices and underbrush. Silky, suave and full but without any undue weight. Harmonious acidity gives this wine excellent definition. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and terrific rising length. Since 2004, this cuvee has been a blend of 40% purchased grapes from 50-year-old vines and 40% estate vines that are 20 years of age.

Good bright red-ruby. Nuanced aromas of cassis, musky brown spices, minerals, licorice, menthol and violet. Pure and brisk on entry, then rather clenched in the middle, with black fruit flavors carried by a powerful tannic spine. Can't quite match the Clos Saint-Denis for finesse but this is longer and more complex. Finishes with a sappy light touch and tannins that dust the entire palate. Strong juice. This is 13.3% natural alcohol but is not at all overripe.
