Score 88/100 · Drink 2003-2004, Robert Parker, Feb 2003
The Usseglios have produced the finest white Chateauneuf du Pape I have yet tasted from them. Unlike its bland, uninteresting predecessors, the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape blanc (80% Grenache Blanc, 10% Bourboulenc, and 10% Clairette) exhibits wonderful ripe citrus and honeyed melon fruit in its medium-bodied, pure, fruit-driven personality. It is meant to be consumed during its first year of life. Kudos to Thierry and Jean-Pierre Usseglio, Wine Advocate wine personalities of the year in 2001!
