Tasting notes
Deep ruby. Riper fruit character. Some dried fruit as well as damson. Then much leaner than I expected on the palate. Juicy on the mid palate but dry on the finish. Quite a dry grip and less harmonious than the 2006 and 2007. (JH)

Everything comes together in spectacular style in the 2005 Nerosanloré, Gulfi's most extravagant Nero d'Avola. This is another large-scaled offering, yet all of the elements of a great wine are present. Beautifully delineated aromatics meld into deep layers of dark fruit, violets, chocolate, spices and minerals. A gorgeous, seamless wine, the Nerosanloré boasts sensational purity in an utterly compelling style. It is not to be missed.

Gulfi is one of my favorite producers of fine Nero d’Avola. These four top selections explore different facets of this native variety and are all compelling, each in their own way.
