Tasting notes
Salcheto's 2009 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano blossoms onto the palate with generous dark red fruit. There is a radiance and generosity to the 2009 that is quite beautiful, yet at the same time firm tannins and excellent acidity balance some of the wine's more overt leanings. This is a gorgeous, harmonious wine from Salcheto. With the 2009, Salcheto has reduced the time the Vino Nobile spends in oak from two years to eighteen months.

Barrel sample. 100% Prugnolo Gentile. Very dark ruby starting to develop. Very rich and sweet and over-the-top oak definitely dominating the sweet fruit at this stage. Very international and sweet. (WS)
