Tasting notes
Bright violet color. Dark berry liqueur and licorice scents are complicated by dried rose, mocha and vanilla. The palate offers energetic blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter with aeration and pick up a hint of white pepper. Closes with firm cut, spicy thrust and dusty, building tannins that fold smoothly into the fruit. This wine gains substantially from decanting.

The 2010 Grey Cabernet Sauvignon is seasoned with 4% Petit Verdot, which lends the aromatics an attractive blueberry/violet note. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins, while the finish is a little attenuated and dry. Drink now-2014. “Vertice” is the joint venture between Felipe Tosso and John Duval, ex-Penfolds. The fruit comes from the highest sections of the lot 23 parcel of Carmenere and lot 25 parcel of Syrah and is aged for 18 months in oak barriques. Vina Ventisquero is a well-known Chilean winery that began in 2000. The winery is located in the Maipo Valley and head-winemaker, Felipe Tosso, oversees a wide portfolio that now includes vines from Apalta in Colchagua and Casablanca.
