Tasted at the Sauternes 2006 ten-year on horizontal in Bordeaux. The 2006 Doisy-Daene has a mature colour. The nose offers dried honey, pineapple and mango scents, and then a touch of adhesive developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with good tension on the entry. There is great vigor here, a killer line of acidity with hints of barley sugar and dried pineapple towards the finish. This is an excellent Barsac. Tasted April 2016.

Light copper colour.  Intense, rather spicy nose with freshness and great weight.  A light and not unpleasant earthiness on the finish.  The merest hint of beeriness. (JR)

The flagship sweet wine of Professor Denis Dubourdieu, this is a beautifully made wine and one of the best I have tasted from the chateau. The wine, which is usually about 70% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon, and the rest Muscadelle, exhibits a bold, opulent style with gobs of fruit, some honeyed peach, apricot, and pineapple notes, an elegant yet substantial mouthfeel, and superb purity backed up the zesty acidity, giving the wine a laser-like focus. It is moderately sweet and by no means cloying at all. This is a gorgeous wine, probably not among the longest-lived of the vintage, but it has at least 20 years left in it.

Very very sweet with some floral notes. Very pretty and vibrant without the extreme concentration of, say, Climens. (JR)
