Mid-gold, intensely botrytised nose almost reminiscent of a Beerenauslese. Full, confident wine with a certain neatness about it. Not a blockbuster but attractively creamy. Slightly short. (JR)

There is outstanding purity, gorgeous fruit, seemingly low acidity, and an excellent fat, fleshy finish. This wine may merit an outstanding score if it develops more complexity. Complex, highly aromatic nose melds peach, apricot, clove, fresh herbs, oatmeal and spicy botrytis notes. Very concentrated and sappy in the mouth; deep, spicy and persistent. Still a bit youthfully aggressive, but has lovely pure, honeyed fruit. Will this have the length for outstanding?
About the producer
This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
