Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2007-2020, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2002
Slightly smudgy brick colour. Tealeaf flavours and distinctly middle aged. Not the most refined or haunting wine although there is lots of bold, rather unsubtle fruit in the middle. Unresolved with spirit coming through. And, amazingly, still some tannin. Jagged. (JR)

Ruby garnet. Quite old-looking. Toffee, berry and milk chocolate aromas. Round and delicious, very sweet and beautiful. Very long and fruity. Balanced and refined. All in the right place and very ready. More like a tawny now. '77/'85/'97 blind Port retrospective. Drink now. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 2008
