Score 91/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Neal Martin, Jun 2021
The 1989 Clarke has an attractive nose that has held up well, featuring mulberry, loam, sandalwood and light ash-like aromas emerging from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced and quite elegant, with supple tannins. It displays as much substance as the 1986 on the finish but with a soupçon more freshness. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at the château.
