Tasting notes
Pale straw-yellow. Subdued, cool aromas of grapefruit pith, underripe pineapple, quinine and fresh herbs; a bit riesling-like. Juicy, fresh and nicely delineated, with a tactile mineral component and noteworthy energy. Finishes pure and persistent, with saline and crushed stone notes carrying well on the finish. Nicely refined Auxey-Duresses.

The 2010 Auxey-Duresses Blanc shows a little more tension than many of the other entry-level 2010s here, partly a reflection of the cooler microclimate in Auxey. Citrus, lime, and white flowers flow through to the pointed, energetic finish supported by clean mineral notes. This is a hugely delicious, affordable white Burgundy. Anticipated maturity: 2012. This is a gorgeous set of wines from Jean-Philippe Fichet. The 2010s have great energy and freshness. Much of that is, of course, the personality of the vintage, but Fichet is also among the growers who use a fair bit of larger 600-liter barrels, which helps maintain a fair amount of cut and sheer energy.
