The medium-bodied 2008 Ermitage Les Dionnieres reveals notes of black cherries, crushed rocks, raspberries and red as well as black fruits. There is no noticeable oak in this medium-bodied, elegant, Burgundian-styled 2008. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Ferraton’s parent company, Chapoutier, has done an excellent job in St.-Peray working with Marsanne and Roussanne. This long-forgotten appellation may turn out to be the Northern Rhone’s white wine answer to Burgundy’s Chablis. Vivid ruby. Exotic, floral-accented black raspberry and cherry on the nose. Lush and creamy on entry, then firmer and spicier in the middle, offering mineral-tinged flavors of red and dark berries. Refreshingly brisk and energetic on the finish, which features notes of star anise and cracked pepper.
Ruby-red. Highly aromatic scents of red and dark berries, smoky Indian spices and black olive. Lush, gently sweet black raspberry and mulberry flavors are open-knit and free of rough edges. A zesty mineral note adds vivacity to the long, juicy, appealingly sweet finish. This will drink well young.
