Score 83/100 · Drink 1987-2000, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1983 is a good Le Gay--alcoholic, tannic, a little clumsy and awkward, but powerful and ripe. Low acidity may prevent a long, graceful evolution, but this wine will please many buyers for a direct, full-bodied, rich, aggressive style. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 9/87.

About the producer

Chateau Le Gay
There’s been lots of change at Ch. le Gay since the Parent family arrived in 2002 – with vineyards replanted, the cellars renovated and the winemaking adjusted. No surprise, perhaps, that quality is now higher than ever.
