The Chambolle-Musigny Village 2011 has a very pure bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and redcurrant notes that are neatly entwined with the oak. There is great vibrancy here. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, good acidity and superb salinity on the taut, sour cherry-infused finish. Excellent - a village cru that actually surpassed some premier cru under blind conditions!

Tight, reserved, almost fruitless – not perhaps the seductress you might expect of the appellation. Rather hard going, though it will doubtless relax and develop. (RH)

A fresh and distinctly cool nose of airy and laudably pure red pinot fruit, stone and soft spice hints. There is that lovely sense of underlying tension to the detailed and precise middle weight flavors that possess fine balance and excellent length on the saline suffused finish. This is good stuff and the 1er portion of the blend is particularly evident in 2011. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2018+
