I know AXA were keen to sell this property, which they did eventually to Ch Beauregard next door in 2020, because they never thought the wine was quite up to scratch, but this is a very pleasing bottle. Perhaps not the opulence of textbook Pomerol, but with an attractive Cabernet Franc leafy topnote and very well balanced, fully ripe fruit on the palate with just a little charcoal sensation on the finish. It's drinking well now. (JR)

The 2006 Petit Village has a simple bouquet with smudged red berry fruit, damp earth and woodland aromas that are missing some vigour after a decade. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin on the entry, a fine level of acidity, however overall it lacks complexity, and it feels gritty and dry towards the finish. Drink soon. Tasted April 2016.
Lively, dark and brownish. Very sweet and black cherry notes. Polished and, gosh, masses of effort herre! Polished tannins. (JR)
