Score 85/100 · Drink 1988-2000, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
A success for de Pez, the 1978, which has more Merlot than usual because of flowering problems with the 1978 Cabernet crop, is a rich, supple, deep, fruity wine with plenty of extract and tannin. Medium to full bodied, it has developed fully, but shows no signs of decline. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 11/88.
