Tasting notes
Serralunga d’Alba. Maturing mid ruby with bricky tinges. Just the very beginning of oxidation on the nose but translates itself as hints of bacon. Complex and with hints of undergrowth but still quite firm. Smoky, savoury palate with supple acidity. Grainy, long tannins which keep themselves in the background. Wonderful, chewy succulence on the finish. (WS)

The straightforward, light, elegant, medium-bodied 1998 Barolo possesses good roundness and softness, but lacks depth and substance. Moreover, its evolved color is revealing considerable amber at the edge. This Barolo is best consumed over the next 5-6 years. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
