Tasting notes
Fascinating aromas of chocolate, berries, violet and light vanilla follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. I would give this a few more years still. Stylish and honest. Better than I remember.--'95/'96 Bordeaux retrospective. Best after 2008. James Suckling,Wine Spectator2007

I am pleased with how the 1996 Magdelaine has turned out after bottling as the wine appears to have more to it than I suspected. Its dark ruby color is accompanied by a tell-tale nose of kirsch and cherry jam, intermixed with spicy new oak. Medium-bodied, elegant, and harmonious, this wine will undoubtedly close down, but should open nicely offering a stylish, classic St.-Emilion for drinking between 2003-2015.
