From Lucien Lusseau, the cellar master of all the Gerard Perse properties, the 2005 Lusseau is a juicy, opulent style of 2005, with notes of fig, prune, black cherry and cassis. Its soft tannins, ripe, plump mouth texture, low acidity and easy accessibility make this a wine to drink now or to cellar for another 5-10 years. A sleeper of the vintage.

Medium ruby-red. Red and darker fruits, coffee, smoked meat and nutty oak on the nose. Fat, broad and soft; unusually plush and full for this wine. The flavors of redcurrant, mocha and smoked meat are perked up by intriguing pepper and spice notes. Finishes with ripe tannins and very good length. A big success for this property.
Ruby-red. Sexy, ripe aromas of black cherry, graphite and sweet oak. Very ripe and mouthfilling if not particularly complex, with suggestions of black cherry, smoke and iron. Finishes with suggestions of surmaturite
Deep ruby-red. Good lift to the cherry and oak aromas. Moderately sweet, dense and a bit chunky, with excellent breadth for this wine. Concentrated flavors of black cherry and bitter chocolate. Finishes with nicely ripe tannins and building length.
