Score 92/100 · Drink 2003-2012, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2003
A gorgeous, fruit-driven wine, the medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Clos Saint-Denis has plummy red cherry, grapey, floral aromas. Medium-bodied, velvety-textured, and broad, it is dense, supple, well-focused, and presents an exceptionally long, cherry-packed finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2012. Bright, saturated ruby. Complex, scented nose of briary black raspberry, minerals, mocha and fresh blood. Round and pliant in the mouth, with black fruit, animal and torrefaction flavors. A rather stylish example, but less nuanced in the mouth than on the nose. Finishes with broad, chewy tannins.
