Tasting notes
The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino is a nicely evolved wine that delivers an earthy set of aromas spanning from beet root, wild mushroom and forest floor. The wine sports a rustic, gamey personality that suits it nicely considering it also has the structure and consistency to pull it off. Finely textured tannins give the wine a smoky, masculine personality. Drink this wine within the next five years. Drink: 2014-2020.

The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more layered, complex wines of the vintage. Sweet pipe tobacco, spices, leather and savory herbs mesh together in the glass. A wine of unusual detail for the year, the 2008 stands apart for its delineation and textural finesse. Naturally, the 2008 can't match the 2006 or 2007, but it is a great choice for drinking while those wines age. Layers of flavor wrap around the palate on the striking finish. (AG)
Aromas of dried berries and rose bush with a hint of toasted oak dominate this wine. Full to medium body with firm tannins and a medium fruity finish.
Redcurrant aroma dominated by exotic oak notes of cinnamon and mace. Then quite suave, supple and juicy in the mouth, with a subtle sweetness and a flavor of cherry preserves. But this Brunello is carrying a heavy load of spicy oak. Finishes with fine tannins that dust the entire palate.
