Tasting notes
The Col d'Orcia 2006 Brunello di Montalcino has a seamless, almost glossy quality where black cherry is intermingled with dried herb and spice. There is a little more structure to this wine, and you feel some chalkiness in terms of its tannins. This wine is incredibly expressive right now and ready to drink.

Good deep red. Redcurrant and raspberry fruit aromas complicated by licorice and pungent minerality. Sweet, supple and harmonious; concentrated and fat but a tad reduced today and not yet expressing itself. Finishes with serious, chewy tannins that call for at least several years of aging. Quite promising, but lay it down.
The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino emerges from the glass with a finely knit bouquet of tobacco, sweet herbs, licorice, leather and red cherries. The wine shows lovely depth, richness and polish in its engaging personality. The warm radiance of the fruit flows through effortlessly to the long, creamy finish. This is a terrific effort from Col d'Orcia. (AG)
Deep, concentrated ruby with orange-tinged rim. Initially quite a lot of oak on the nose. Sweet, but not enormously complex (yet) on the mid palate. Stormy oak tannins. Needs to settle, but shows very promising aromatics on the finish. (WS)
