Tasting notes
Made from 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2008 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne offers a perfumed, rounded, seductive style. Black cherries, currants, roasted herbs, and licorice notes all give way to a medium-bodied, sweetly fruited 2008 that has considerable elegance and purity, with outstanding balance. It's not the biggest or baddest wine in the vintage, but it offers plenty of pleasure.

Dense ruby/purple, this richly fruity, modern-styled St.-Emilion exhibits lots of black currant, licorice and camphor characteristics in its medium-bodied, fruity personality. With good depth, purity and texture, it should drink well for 7-10 years.
Unusually developed-looking for a 2008. Pretty muddy, occluded, complex nose. Then there is a bit of a lack of freshness on the palate. Chewy end. A bit stolid. (JR)
