Unusually, the 2007 looks more youthful than the 2008. Sweet and candified on the nose. Lots of guts here and something rather wild and countrified. Still quite chewy. There is life and personality here even if not much sophistication or real density. (JR)

Still quite purple. Still very youthful, bursting with vibrant fruit. Copious fruit weight but not quite enough acidity – a bit flat. Have the tannins in this sample been over-fined? Uncomfortably inky on the finish. (JR)

Attractive berry and milk chocolate character on the nose and palate, following through to a medium body, with soft tannins. Very pleasant. Score range: 84-87 -James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2008
