Tasting notes
Tasted blind in a line-up of 2011 Amoureuses in Holland, this 2011 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses is very clean and pure in color. The nose is sensual and pure with luscious redcurrant, red cherry and fresh strawberry aromas that blossom in the glass, yet they retain the essence of refinement. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very well judged acidity and focus. This is perhaps the most harmonious of the Amoureuses with great tension. It does not possess the persistency of a great vintage, but there is real breeding here. Tasted June 2014.

Much sweeter and richer on the nose than Les Chabiots, almost chocolatey. Cherry chocolate, then opening up to delicate sweet red fruit. So fragrant and seductive. I keep delaying putting it in my mouth because the aroma is so lovely. There's a firmness to the tannins, too, though they are clothed in sweet fruit. Very long and caressing. (JH)
About the producer

Although the Bichot family settled in the region in 1350, Albert Bichot was founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot. Today the producer is one of Burgundy’s most respected, making wines from both its own vineyards and with purchased fruit.
