(15.4% alcohol) Full red. Flamboyant aromas of tangy raspberry and exotic oak spices. Densely packed, suave and sweet, with red berry, underbrush and exotic spicy oak notes accented by a floral tea quality. The bright, energetic raspberry and strawberry fruit carries to a sappy, juicy finish that emphasizes the oak spice. Perhaps more Sine Qua Non than pinot noir-or Oregon , for that matter-but undeniably delicious and seductive.

The 2002 Hollerin’ M Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir (704 cases) is absolutely mind-blowing Pinot, one of the most compelling examples I have ever tasted from Oregon. Deep plum/ruby/purple to the rim, with a glorious perfume of forest floor intermixed with acacia flowers, sweet cherries and plums, as well as hints of pomegranate and blackberries, it cuts a broad swath across the palate. The texture inundates the palate, and it finishes with tremendous voluptuousness and purity. A great hedonistic treat for all the senses, it will provide immense pleasure over the next decade.
