Score 86/100 · Drink 1995-2005, Robert Parker, Jan 1997
An unimpressive ruby color retains some youth, but it lacks the saturation found in top vintages of this wine. The 1987 La Chapelle reveals some peppery, tar, plum, and cherry-like aromas, with background scents of olives. Medium-bodied and compact, with good concentration, this is a lighter-styled, somewhat attenuated La Chapelle that is pleasant but unexciting. Anticipated maturity: now-2005. Last tasted 11/95.
