From Kate Dugdale's cellar, decanted on the morning of the tasting. Brownish garnet. A little more leafy than the 1966 and 1964, with notes of lavender, mocha and undergrowth yet meaty, too, a touch of beef extract. Really tangy and spicy in flavour and texture. Dry tannins are still firm with a hint of sweet chestnuts on the finish. More tannic than the 1964 and 1966. Savoury and fresh. Slightly drying finish.  (JH)

Dark crimson with surprisingly little orange. A little monolithic and cheesy. Acidity dominates the palate. Very tough and austere. Very tough. (JR)

An evolved, garnet/amber color suggests a much older wine. The 1967 is a lush La Chapelle that appears to be on the verge of breaking up. There is an initial gush of sweet, jammy, cedar, cherry, and herb-tinged aromas and flavors, but the sweetness dissipates quickly in the glass. This wine, which was probably drinkable upon release, is still pleasant, but it requires consumption.
