Muted nose and very slightly stale fruit on the palate. Pretty aggressive froth. Dry and crisp bit not that subtle. Relatively ripe and sweet but easy to like. Flattering. And there is that nice bottle – and awfully smart box. (JR)
Light gold. Fresh citrus and pear aromas are complemented by notes of brioche, honey and minerals. Fruit-driven, silky and refreshing, with an undertone of minerals adding lift to the sappy pear and nectarine flavors. Finishes on a brisk note of lemon curd, with very good, gently toasty persistence. I like this wine's balance and sneaky depth.
The 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Belle Epoque is a striking Champagne endowed with considerable power and richness in its exuberant fruit. The wine blossoms on the plate with tons of richness and a broad, expansive voice to the fruit that is quite beautiful. A long, creamy finish layered with tropical fruit rounds things out nicely. This is easily one of the most memorable Champagnes I have tasted from Perrier-Jouet in some time. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022. Wine Advocate.November, 2011
