Bright gold. Floral nose. A sweetish start. Flattering but not the most appetising. Finishes with a little bit of heat on the end. (JR)

More struck match character on the nose, and then on the palate this is super racy, even lean, without as much grunt and guts as the Au Bon Climat 2014 tasted immediately beforehand. It may take on more interest in the bottle. (JR)

Light, green-tinged yellow. Highly perfumed aromas of dried citrus fruits, iodine, white flowers and minerals, with a smoky oak spice overtone. Dry, focused and energetic on the palate, offering vibrant lemon/lime and pear flavors that gain weight with air. Shows impressive clarity and grip on the long, sappy finish, which leaves musky anise and floral notes behind.

57% new French oak for eight months. TA 5.9 g/l, pH 3.15. Tremendous dairy freshness and super quality oak flavour. Bold, ripe and toasty. Mealy but not full in texture – lean and stylish. Really worth keeping, but attractive to drink right away. Right up there with the best of Australian Chardonnay. (RH)
