(25% new oak) Subtle nose combines citrus peel, apple, pear, minerals, spices and white flowers. Juicy, supple and suave, with sneaky depth to its delicate, stony flavors. This mounts slowly and impressively, finishing with hints of crushed stone, licorice and menthol and a distinct floral persistence. Still quite firm-edged and young, in a rather cool style for the year. Give this six years, or a good aeration if you plan to open it anytime soon.

A distinctly more elegant nose of primarily white flower and citrus blossom nuanced by subtle spice notes merges seamlessly into round, rich, forward and surprisingly generous flavors that possess neither the precision nor the minerality that I'm used to seeing and while the finish is certainly balanced and classy, this isn't at its usual level, at least not today.
(tasted from a new barrique, as the two used barrels had not yet finished their malolactic fermentation) Pungent aromas of pineapple, minerals and quinine. Bright, tightly wound and spicy; showing less texture than the Batard but quite backward today. Finishes with lovely subtle persistence, and a lingering peppery quality.
