Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2004, Pierre Rovani, Feb 1999
The Macon-Pierreclos was difficult to assess the day of my tasting because it was in a reductive state (the opposite of oxidized, wines in this state reveal leather, rubber, and gamey aromas and flavors. It can be corrected with aeration). After considerable aeration it revealed an intensely sweet and floral bouquet. On the palate, this medium-bodied, fresh, tangy, silky, and expressive wine is crammed with candied lemons, liquid minerals, and a trace of quinine. Anticipated maturity: now-2004. A Peter Vezan Selection (Paris Fax # 011-33-1-42-65-42-93), importers include: North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 848-8910, and a Patrick Lesec Selection (Paris Fax # 011-33-1-44-70-62-93).
