Tasting notes
This has a really lovely nose, plummy and fragrant. Some oak again here on the palate but not at all overdone – just very well done. Restrained and slightly reticent, with impressive depth and a great deal of character.

(domain wine; tasted from tank; not yet filtered; 100% vendange entier): Raspberry, cocoa powder and strong crushed-rock minerality on the nose and palate. Suave, fine-grained and perfumed, displaying captivating definition and tension in the mouth. The very long, rising finish features fine-grained, melting tannins and outstanding verve. Subtle, classy wine with terrific potential.
This is both riper and spicier than the Petit Monts with its seductive aromas of cassis and dark berries. The mouth feel of the mid-palate is also quite seductive with plenty of palate soaking extract and I like the volume and outstanding length though there is a very mild hint of dryness that appears to be due to the considerable gas. Still, this is one where you might wish to taste a bottle first before committing to quantity. Tasted: Apr 15, 2013. Drink: 2021+
