Tasting notes
Cinnamon and other exotic spices make up the aromatic profile of the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers. This masculine, deeply concentrated wine reveals sappy black fruit flavors in its pure, medium to full-bodied, structured character. Additional layers of peppery blackberries come to the fore in its extended, ripe tannin-packed finish. Projected maturity: 2007-2016. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Deep ruby-red. Ripe aromas of black raspberry, game, minerals and bitter chocolate. Sweet, vibrant flavors of black cherry and licorice. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins and very good length. A sample from a second, used barrel, which finished its malolactic fermentation later, showed blackberry and tar notes and a bit more flesh.
Cask sample. Deep crimson. Very glamorous and intensely aromatic. Lots of fruit and chew. Pretty showy but no-one could dislike this wine. Dry finish with a hint of coffee bean already. (JR)

About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
