Tasting notes
Lots of sweetness and effort in this wine. Not a bad price. But quite a lot of oak on the finish. (JR)

The 2008 Le Volte is an impressively constituted, rich wine. In 2008 the wilder, rougher side of Sangiovese is particularly evident. Dark cherries, herbs and tobacco emerge from a powerful, rather burly frame. The vintage doesn't seem to have given General Manager/Agronomist Leonardo Raspini and his contract growers the most ideal of conditions to work with.

A bit ho-hum on the nose, but lovely bitter-sweet freshness on the palate. Tannins are very tightfisted at the moment, and tend to obscure the fruit. Green streaks. I'd wait a year before approaching this, and it would probably be enhanced with food. (TC)
