Magnum. Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Sumptuously ripe nose with a bit of maturity. But a little dilute on the mid palate. Soft chalky tannins. Dusty finish. Ends pretty dry. Very flattering attack. But the finish is still a bit punishing. (JR)

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' 2006 tasting, the 2006 Château Sociando Mallet displayed a lifted and sprightly bouquet with black fruit, scorched earth, fresh mint and smoky aromas - quasi-Pauillac in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a keen line of acidity, fresh in the mouth with a saline tincture towards the composed finish. There is impressive freshness here, not overly complex for sure, but it conveys energy. Drink now and over the next decade. Tasted April 2016.
Tasted blind. Mellow and round. Lots of juice and fun. Lifted. Clean and racy. Very correct without being absolutely thrilling. Just a tad meagre. (JR)
Very powerful nose. Big, burly, very strong – and ripe – Cabernet aromas. But pretty inky, green finish. Shame because the start is unusually opulent and welcoming. (JR)
