The 1967 Giscours has a delightful bouquet that reminds me of a fine Côte de Nuits: very Pinot-like with more purity than the '64 poured alongside. Ripe red cherries, crushed strawberry and rose petals join with a hint of dried blood. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced with gentle grip, displaying ferrous red fruit intermixed with Szechuan peppercorn notes that leave the mouth tingling. There's plenty of VA, but it just adds to this Margaux. This is a delicious wine from a vintage that was always overshadowed by the '66.

Ch. Giscours is a Third Growth estate situated in the Médoc appellation of Margaux. With a long and somewhat chequered history, the estate has seen an impressive rise in quality since the early 2000s and is only getting better.
