Score 93/100 · Drink 2033-2045, Angus Hughson, Vinous, May 2026

The 1994 Shiraz Mount Edelstone is lighter in weight but beautifully refined, with cherry compote aromas lifted by meaty/spicy tones and a flourish of dried herbs. The fruit is quite tight with an herbal edge, but it retains polish and vibrancy through the generous, sinewy finish. This is a sleeper that will be better with more time in bottle.

Again, like Hill of Grace 1994, a particularly deep crimson. Some mineral notes – definitely not fruit above all. Very firm. Some vegetal character on the nose. Very lively and vibrant with firm tannins still in evidence and a fresh walnut note. (JR)
