Score 100/100 · Drink 2020-2070, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2020

Always the lightest in color of the three single vineyard releases, the 2006 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc shows the classic, more focused, chiseled style of this cuvée as well as incredible notes of praline, caramelized stone fruits, celery seed, almonds, white flowers, and a liqueur of rock-like minerality that comes through more on the finish. A perfect wine in every sense, with full-bodied richness, integrated acidity, and a finish that won’t quit, it should have 50 years of longevity.

The lightest colored of the three whites, the 2006 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc is unquestionably one of the greatest white wines in the world today. Full-bodied, seamless, silky and yet hugely concentrated, with to-die-for notes of praline, caramelized fruits, liquid rock, toasted almonds and celery seed, it’s the quintessential Hermitage Blanc possessing an incredible amount of fruit and texture paired with elegance, purity and finesse.

Yellow-gold. Wonderfully complex bouquet of spicy citrus, pear and melon complicated by dusty minerals, smoky lees and fresh rose. Fleshy but focused on the palate, offering spicy orchard fruit flavors, lemon pith and sweet tangerine on the finish. Gained weight with air without any loss of energy or clarity, picking up exotic spice and licorice flavors with air. There are only 228 cases of this juice.
