Score 90/100 · Drink 2005, Robert Parker, Aug 1995

The impressively colored Corton Les Rognets is a huge, rugged, brooding style of Pinot Noir. This well-proportioned wine will need at least 10-12 years of cellaring to reveal its full potential. Although the tannin is high, this wine appears to be worth the wait if you can defer your gratification, and recognize the risk involved. Do not touch a bottle before 2005. Ambroise, to no one's surprise, has produced monster 1993s that are black-colored, with massive tannin levels, and, in the finest examples, tremendous levels of fruit. As usual, it will be a question of which survives the longest - the fruit or the tannin? At least Ambroise was able to pack his finest wines with plenty of concentrated fruit.
