Reasonably healthy colour. Ripe but quite savoury, appetising nose. A little formulaic but lots of pleasure here. (Must be a ? Rolland wine!) Nice chewy grip on the finish. The only real drawback is its terribly drying, uncomfortable finish. (JR)

Red-ruby. Cool aromas of black plum, violet, leather and spicy oak. Sweet and silky in the mouth, with subtle oakiness and good lift. The sweetness lingers through the firmly tannic aftertaste, which offers good freshness and cut but also shows a slight dryness.

A possible sleeper of the vintage, this 2003 offers up a lovely sweet toffee, black cherry, and currant-scented perfume as well as a surprisingly dense, ripe, medium-bodied Pomerol with excellent texture, and a long finish. It should provide plenty of pleasure during its first 10-12 years of life. Bravo!
