The Emilio Hidalgo sherry lineup is first class, considerably less expensive than the above star of the portfolio, and very much worthy of consumer attention. The first vintage of the 1861 Santa Ana Pedro Ximenez was bottled in 1861 when the solera was originated. The wine rests in very old 500-liter American oak barrels. This nearly black-colored wine is super-fragrant with notes of dates, figs, molasses, and assorted dried fruits. Thick, rich, and viscous, the wine is very intense and exceptionally long. Words can hardly do it justice. Importer: Winebow Inc., www.winebow.com
