Score 90/100 · Drink 2019-2029, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2019
The 2008 Château Chauvin (80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) offers a still youthful color to go with a pretty nose of red currants, spice box, cigar, and dried earth. Rich, nicely concentrated, and medium-bodied, it's a classic Saint Emilion that's drinking nicely today yet will cruise for another decade.

Paler than some. Hint of green (the first wine, sixth tasted, to show this characteristic). Rather drying finish. Just not ripe enough. (JR)

A delicious, sexy St.-Emilion, the 2008 reveals lots of licorice-infused black currants and kirsch, good structure, excellent, possibly outstanding depth and a medium to full-bodied finish. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.
