Tasting notes
Gianni Voerzio’s Barolo La Serra is regularly one of the better examples from this well-exposed vineyard in La Morra, and the 2000 Barolo La Serra is no exception. Spicy and penetrating on the nose with ample berry fruit and chocolate, its intensity and solidity on the palate are immediately evident. Only a slight hardness and dryness on the close keep the score from going higher. Importer: Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620

Deep red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of musky dark fruits, violet and spices; currently showing less chocolatey oak than the 2001. Juicy, floral and tight for the vintage, with vibrant, bright flavors of black fruits and mint. Sharply delineated for a 2000 if rather closed. The juicy finish features a slight youthful dry edge.
