Tasting notes
(a 65%/35% blend) Dark red. Strawberry, juicy redcurrant, rose petal and peppered, grilled steak aromas are downright polite and restrained in the context of this wine's stablemates. Soft, supple and silky, with ripe flavors of red berry, strawberry preserve and cocoa powder. I'd swear that the blend was reversed here. Attractively soft and ripe on the finish, without any tannic or acid edges.

An excellent value, the deep ruby-hued 2003 Brave Faces (a 2,000-case blend of 65% Shiraz and 35% Grenache from Barossa) boasts terrific fruit intensity along with gorgeous aromas of raspberries, black currants, and cherries. Grenache’s kirsch/licorice component is nicely balanced by the blacker fruit character and smokier notes of Shiraz. Drink this opulent, hedonistic, savory 2003 over the next 3-4 years.
