2001 Chablis Reserve de l'Obedience

(made entirely in barriques; a barrel selection from Laroche's oldest parcel of Blanchots; the final selection for the 2002 was scheduled to be made a couple weeks after my visit) Very ripe aromas of yellow plum, vanilla and spices. Sweet, fat and honeyed; rich and full for the vintage, but also shows very good grip and length. Already quite approachable; a distinctly less cool style than Laroche's Clos.
